IMPORTANT! READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING: Adult supervision is recommended for mosaics!*** This Mosaic Kit includes the supplies you will need to create your own mosaic plaque. The mirror can be hung on a wall. If you would like to cut the mosaic pieces smaller, we recommend purchasing tile nippers from a hardware store. They should be used by adults.

****Mosaics are offered as an at-your-own-risk activity. I say that because I have cut myself with mosaics over the years. The cuts were minor but I mention it for your awareness and safety. It generally happened if I sat on a small piece of glass, cutting my leg, or while brushing off microscopically small glass bits from a tabletop with my bare hands or even while wearing thin rubber gloves. Pro-tip: Glue the side mosaics on once the other sides are fully dry. Start with one side at a time facing up, or the pieces will slide right off. Do not use a glue gun, that kind of glue is not strong enough! Use caution when handling the mosaic bits in case they are sharp...this includes while you are grouting. Adults should grout since grout is cement-like and should never be rinsed off in your indoor or outdoor sink, as it could ruin your plumbing. Grouting outdoors on an old table is recommended using the gloves and paper we supply. Placing a trash bag under the brown paper is required or your will have wet paper and grout everywhere. When finished, dispose of gloves and wipe hands with handwipes to remove any grout before washing hands at your sink. Roll up paper and trash bag and discard. This is definitely not an activity to let young children do on their own. Watch out for any stray sharp glass bits in the bag of mosaic bits and keep a bandaid handy just in case you have a minor cut. Do not brush spare glass bits with your bare hands onto the floor or someone could step on them with bare feet and hurt themselves. You must monitor to avoid any damage to your home or the project. As you can see, mosaics can be a real adventure! But they are also very fun, like doing a puzzle, if you are prepared to be safe.

My family had a wonderful time creating their pieces of pottery. My grandchildren are 11 years old, 9 years old and 3 years old. They enjoyed all the choices and had trouble choosing one piece but they did! We had a choice of colors and they loved choosing them. The three year old did a lovely mermaid. We were all pleasant surprised, at how carefully she did her piece and how lovely it came out. All the pieces looked beautiful and we will definitely make this a stop for the next time, we visit.
